Work About Me Github

Hello!

My name is Adam. I am a passionate programmer and creative professional with over 10 years of full-stack website development, design, and marketing experience. I have experience in branding, digital and print design, programming (PHP & Javascript), server management, photography, digital painting, and video editing.

I prioritize design that ensures a clear and impactful message while adhering to industry best practices. I am always eager to learn and grow by challenging myself to take on new experiences. I believe deeply in the potential of all people and the power of technology to change lives for the better. I am always looking for opportunities where I can focus my talents on work that has a positive and meaningful impact on people and communities.

Backstory

All my life I've been obsessed with technology and the incredible things that can be accomplished with it. From solving problems using programming and automation, to creating joy through immersive digital content, video games, and art to supporting people in need through advancements in accessibility, medical care, security, and education.

I am always on the lookout for the next big thing. Whether smartwatches, virtual reality, or home automation; I've rarely missed an opportunity to be an early adopter. One of my earliest fond memories of dating my now wife of 11+ years is nearly freezing together as we waited overnight outside an EB Games store for the much anticipated launch of the Nintendo Wii. You'll be happy to know I braved a similar outing on my own (she had to work) for the launch of the Nintendo Switch.

Career

Throughout my career working for Niagara Falls Tourism, I was afforded a great deal of flexibility to grow my skills in a nearly limitless number of directions. I began my career with Niagara Falls Tourism as the "Creative Developer" responsible for updating the existing site and producing digital designs for marketing campaigns and social media. Shortly after I started I was allowed to design a refreshed Niagara Falls Tourism logo and completely rebuild the website on WordPress. As the needs of the organization grew we quickly outgrew WordPress and I began the search for a more flexible solution. I quickly managed to find ProcessWire, a CMS designed from the ground up to be customizable and flexible for a developer, on the front end and back end.

This led to an increased interest in developing my programming skills, resulting in the lofty aim to build a custom PHP flat-file CMS using JSON files as the storage mechanism.

Recent

Recently I've been learning about video game development using the open-source Godot Game engine. This has been a wonderful experience, challenging me to bring together a wide range of my skills and interest; from programming and UI design to art, music, and writing. While I have not reached a point where I can share the specifics of my project, I am ever hopeful to get there one day soon and plan to share what I can as open-source example projects along the way. Stay tuned!
